The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will begin accepting quality measure suggestions to be considered for use in Physician Quality Reporting System for future rule making years. All suggestions must be received by CMS no later than 5:00 p.m. EST August 1, 2012.

A proposed rule from HHS pushes back by one year the compliance deadline for conversion to the International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision of diagnostic and procedural codes to Oct. 1, 2014. The rollback of the ICD-10 deadline was telegraphed by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in February. Read the fact sheet.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is pleased to announce the posting of 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System educational products on the CMS Web site. The materials include a Specifications Manual, Measure Specification Release Notes, an Implementation Guide and several other items.

To access the 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System educational products, visit the Spotlight page on the CMS Web site for the listing of educational products and the corresponding section page where they can be found.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) deadline for measure owners to submit ICD-10 conversion coding for new 2012 measures is due on January 31, 2012.

Quality Insights recently sent letters to a random sample of providers to request supporting documentation for the Physician Quality Reporting System and the eRx Incentive Program quality codes submitted on claims for specific dates of service.

On November 1, 2011, CMS issued a final rule with comment period. This rule includes updates to the 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System as well as provisions for the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program. The final rule with comment period will appear in the November 28, 2011, Federal Register. To view this final rule, visit the CMS Web site.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is no longer accepting measures suggestions for possible inclusion in Physician Quality Reporting System future rule-making years. The deadline for submitting measures closed on October 7, 2011.
